Finish Carpentry & Architectural Millwork
Finish carpentry is part of the foundation TRIMWORKS was built on. Today, our team provides precision trim, moulding, millwork and architectural finish installation for commercial, multifamily and residential projects.
The Finish Stage
The Details People See Every Day.
Finish carpentry lives at eye level. Reveals, joints, miters, transitions, alignment and proportion are exposed in the completed space, which means accuracy at installation matters.
Whether the scope is a commercial interior, multifamily common area or residential renovation, our focus is clean layout, consistent details and a finished result that belongs in the space.

Where the Work Shows Up
Base, Casing & Mouldings
Running trim, base, casing and moulding installed with consistent joints, profiles, transitions and alignment throughout the space.
Architectural Millwork
Installation of shop-fabricated or made-to-order millwork components where field fit, layout and coordination affect the final appearance.
Doors & Interior Openings
Finish work around doors, frames and openings coordinated with adjacent trim, wall finishes and hardware requirements.
Doors, Frames & Hardware →Feature Details
Accent walls, architectural trim details and other finish elements that require careful layout to look intentional in the completed interior.
Field Conditions Matter
Millwork Is Manufactured to Dimensions. Buildings Are Rarely Perfect.
Walls can be out of plumb. Floors can vary. Existing openings may not match the drawings exactly. Those conditions are why field measurement and installation judgment matter.
AWI’s standards specifically call for field measurements when applicable and place responsibility on installers to follow documented installation requirements. In practice, that means the field fit cannot be treated as an afterthought.
Commercial Finish Carpentry
Precision Has to Scale Across the Project.
In commercial environments, finish carpentry may repeat across offices, hospitality, retail, multifamily common areas or other large interiors. Consistency becomes part of the job: profiles, reveals, hardware interfaces and finish details need to stay controlled from one area to the next.
Trim and millwork integrated into active renovation and build-out scopes.
Repeatable finish details across common areas, units and managed properties.
High-visibility finish work where alignment and presentation matter immediately.
Replacement or upgrading of worn finish components as part of larger capital projects.
Finish Carpentry vs. Millwork
Related Trades. Different Parts of the Process.
“Finish carpentry” often refers to the field installation and fitting of visible woodwork and trim. “Millwork” generally refers to manufactured or shop-fabricated wood products, including stock mouldings, made-to-order profiles and fabricated assemblies.
AWI treats these as connected but distinct scopes: one standard addresses millwork and wood trim as fabricated products, while another addresses finish-carpentry installation. A successful project depends on those two sides meeting correctly in the field.

Make New Work Feel Like It Belongs in the Home.
In residential renovation, finish carpentry is often what connects the new work to the existing home. Base profiles, casing, mouldings, doors and trim proportions need to work together so the renovation feels cohesive rather than assembled from unrelated pieces.
TRIMWORKS began with doors, floors and mouldings before growing into broader construction services. That finish-first background still shapes how we approach detailed interior work.
Residential Construction →What Quality Looks Like
The Best Finish Work Usually Looks Effortless.
Spacing should read as deliberate from one opening or run to the next.
Miters, butts and transitions should support the profile instead of drawing attention to themselves.
Trim and architectural details should respond to walls, openings and adjacent features.
New finish work should meet flooring, drywall, doors and existing materials cleanly.

Finish Carpentry FAQs
Common Questions
What is considered finish carpentry?
Finish carpentry generally includes visible woodwork installed late in the construction process, such as base, casing, mouldings, trim, architectural details and related finish elements.
What is the difference between finish carpentry and millwork?
Millwork commonly refers to manufactured or shop-fabricated wood products. Finish carpentry is the field measuring, fitting and installation work that integrates those products into the building.
Does TRIMWORKS provide commercial finish carpentry?
Yes. TRIMWORKS provides finish carpentry and millwork installation as part of commercial renovation, construction and property-improvement projects.
Can new trim be matched to an existing space?
Often, yes, depending on the existing profile, material and product availability. Matching work starts with documenting what is already present and understanding how new pieces need to transition into it.
Why are field measurements important for millwork?
Actual building dimensions can differ from drawings or nominal dimensions. Field measurements help confirm that fabricated or installed components fit the real conditions at the project.
Do you handle finish carpentry as part of larger renovations?
Yes. Finish carpentry often works best when coordinated with drywall, flooring, doors and other renovation scopes so transitions can be planned rather than repaired after the fact.
